Solopreneurs Generated $1 Trillion in Revenue in 2012

Census recently reported that the number of U.S. million in 2012. nonemployer businesses reached 22.7 This is up 1.1%, or 245,000 businesses, from 2011.   These businesses generated $1 trillion in total revenue, up 4.2% This translates into an average of $45,300 per business.

Freelancers Increasing Their Use of Online Marketplaces to Find Work

As the study chart below shows (click to enlarge), in 2012 only 3 percent of full-time independent workers reported having used an online marketplace to find work in the prior 12 months. Relatively few (8%) report using online talent marketplaces as their primary source of work.  In 2019, 24% said they had.
