Before leaving, I was able to spend a few days going over the binder with my temp. offices, and train them in how to create their own desk reference guide. The person covering in my absence would have to hit the ground running, and this guide would serve as the tool to help them do it.

This would also help with their induction process and ideally a ‘buddy cover’ or mentor could be assigned. Put every PA on a shared distribution list and ideally a closed SharePoint site for sharing information such as training & seminars. Having a taster session may be all they need to help them see the benefits of the network.

Don’t underestimate the value of temping. Working for a temp agency can either land you a full-time job or help to keep you employed while you are looking.

Even when a company is downsizing or merging, there’s a lot of opportunity for contract roles or temp gigs to help them thru the transition.

Grow & learn; read, talk to mentors, attend training or a conference, watch webinars, etc. I suggest constant learning before the unexpected change occurs so you can adapt more easily. One full-time job and a few temp positions came after that one. Maybe it’s time to find a better career match.
