Make sure that tasks directly associated with clients come first, consider the financial impact of a project and its completion date on the company, don’t let deadlines control the priority list (expense reports can wait when there are more important tasks), and consider cause and effect (do A to enable B, which accomplishes C).

I’d had it with the internal struggle. To me, this reeks of what psychologists call “internal validation&# … and previous descriptions (earlier in the post) revolve more around EXTERNAL validation (seeking approval from others). I maximize those as much as I can, and when they strike, I get myself to a keyboard.

No delicate tippy-tapping on the keyboard for me. I think it is also important to think about your own state when you are reading the mail, this is as much a influential factor in your internalizing the mail as the how the mail is written. They know you well enough to project that tone. This guy had just insulted me. Or had he?
