I maximize those as much as I can, and when they strike, I get myself to a keyboard. I think it’s a good idea to step away from the keyboard and take a break. That way when you’re stuck you always have something to refer back to. Just remembering who I was. Matthew´s last blog. ALL of them.

Does your family refer to you as “the lump by the computer”? I am not a freelancer as such but I do work from home and I’ve training my boss and colleagues to stop arranging meetings after 4pm (still working on that one), I’ve been forcing myself to step away from the keyboard and to stop checking work emails after hours.

Now, when I say ‘don’t write’, I don’t mean you should take a break or get away from the keyboard for a day. Not quite what you’re referring to here though James. I’m a pretty fast typist but it made me realise how unnatural it is to use a keyboard, or even a pen. Every single time.

It would be much easier to keyboard it but I know it wouldn’t have the same effect as writing it by hand. I do feel much more comfortable with a keyboard than hand though. As for hand-writing versus keyboard, I too am much faster when using the latter, but for me, that’s not the point. I get hand cramps!
