Basecamp Both Joanne Lang and I recommended Basecamp. ( [link] ) The tool gives the ability for various team members to communicate and report in on status and there are some fantastic dashboard tools that give you an overall look at various sub projects.    The other day a colleague asked about our suggestions for tools.

If deadlines cannot be set, a good practice would be to let team members know when you will be contacting them for a status report. Look into purchasing an all-in-one fax, printer, and copier. Members must be able to trust their leader’s judgment and leaders must trust that their team members will complete the tasks.

I stand back, and begin moving notes until the ideas start flowing into easy categories: Blog, Projects, Home, Family, Health - etc. You don't need to know every time someone has added you as a friend on Facebook or has invited you to join an online group. If you know that you will never answer an email, delete it right away.
