The women met in September 2017 at a personal development seminar in San Diego, connecting not only for their shared United Kingdom ties, but also for their mutual desire to make the most of the experience. When the conference ended, Canty returned to the United Kingdom and Ellis traveled back up the coast to her home in Los Angeles.
