Stay organized. Put pen to paper (or finger tips to keyboard) and record important dates in a calendar, notebook or on your mobile device. For example, remembering the number sequence of: 6-3-2-4-8-1-7-9 could be remembered easier if the sequence is chunked into: 63-24-81-79. So hang up the phone, find a quiet place and focus.

The argument could be said that the role of the assistant is to assist and keep your boss organized so we shouldnt complain when we have to do it. I have found the best way to cope is to keep yourself organized. In my readers example, the problem was the trials of working for multiple bosses when one or more of them is disorganized.

To set a recurring 9-5 meeting (as opposed to clicking all-day meeting) I dont like the all-day meeting settings as they are out of sight at the top of the calendar and easily missed.

A while back, Coopers & Lybrand (now Price Waterhouse Coopers ) released data from a poll on personal organization. Add dated or calendar items to a tickler file system or a diary as soon as they arrive. How much stuff do you have sitting on your desk or in your work area? Finding stuff on my messy desk bears out that statistic.
