Do you dread going to the welcome reception at a conference? A lot of people do, especially if they attend the conference alone or are a first timer. However, going to the first night’s event when attending an administrative conference is a great way to start meeting the people with whom you will spend the next 3 or 4 days.

Here are a few to consider: industry conference, leadership conference, local chamber of commerce event, virtual workshop, in-person workshop, age/gender specific networking happy hour, and so much more. Give Out Business Cards. If networking has gotten a little stale for you, try a new event!

If you request to attend a Training Day and they say that time away from the office is the main issue, then you need to make the conference seem as undisruptive as possible. Getting buy-in IS ACHIEVABLE and I managed to successfully get the following approved: Business Cards. The Assist Conference 2017. Salary Increase.

I’ve spent the last few days at a big exhibition for the events industry in Frankfurt called IMEX 2013. If you have been to one of these shows you will know it can be quite overwhelming especially if you are on your own or you are new to the industry and haven’t met many people yet (this was my predicament!)

There were many free training sessions for assistants to attend and the exhibitors were all relevant suppliers to the industry which again is not always the case with these types of events! They were to meet with the assistants that read my blog and put some faces to names. I attended the after show party.
