Well to be honest there is a slight chink in my event armour; I’m not the best at negotiating. Well I didn’t, I hired a fantastic events co-ordinator to do all of the negotiating with the venue and suppliers on my behalf. Don’t let the supplier rush you into making any decisions. I sound marvellous don’t I!?

It can be quite a daunting task asking assistants to negotiate corporate rates with hotels. It is obviously a lot easier booking hotels either through a 3 rd party website like booking.com or just accepting the hotel’s rack rate. Here are my tips for negotiating corporate rates with local hotels.

In addition I met with a number of serviced apartment suppliers and from the outset it was clear that the apartments were considerably cheaper than the best corporate rate I was offered at a hotel. It is easy to negotiate on the price per night with a serviced apartment as they do tend to discount on block bookings.

It is quite common now to have help with travel arrangements as most companies do employ an outside supplier to book flights, hotels and car hire. Potentially you could be missing out on a better deal booking directly. All this stress and you don’t even get to leave your desk! So much easier and less time consuming!
