For many years I have consulted the guide for restaurant and venue ideas, it has always been my first port of call when managers have asked me to book restaurants for them. Coming off the back of hosting the Ryder Cup in 2014 it has been an unprecedented busy couple of years; firstly preparing for one of the world’s main golfing events and then gearing up to celebrate the hotel’s milestone birthday. All of their restaurants are open to Gleneagles guests and day visitors alike.

The foyer, the salon bar and the restaurants are beautiful. We had a choice and this review was written from the Salon bar and not the room. I felt that the food could have been a bit flashier (you do tend to expect that in a five star hotel restaurant) but that would have probably only raised the price and not the quality.

I come across all kinds of interesting sights, people, places and great restaurants. If you are meeting people for dinner or dining alone, find out how you will get to the restaurant and what part of town is it located in. However, the hotels and restaurants can be quite cold with air conditioning. I tell them, “No.”

Walking into the Lobby Bar at One Aldwych will always evoke some powerful memories but yet I have never stayed in the hotel or eaten in one of the restaurants. Tucked away in the lower levelsof the hotel, Axis at One Aldwych is a striking restaurant. The excellent service I had so far continued with the restaurant staff.

The Colonnade does have a really popular restaurant called Brasserie Jo. You can read my review next week. Brasserie Jo is a great hotel restaurant and your manager can take clients there for a good meal. Advertised minimum rate is $271 per person (April 2014).
