I did manage to escape work for long enough to pick up some groceries from the local supermarket with the intention of using the wonderfully equipped kitchen for some home cooking. Around these parts hotels are pretty expensive (sometimes unreasonably so) but The Nadler is what you would call a hidden gem. The hotel doesn’t have a bar or restaurant, which might be a deal breaker for some business travellers, but it does have a meeting space for up to 8 people. Our opinions are entirely our own.

I spent a lot of time catching up on emails and the WiFi was perfect. It doesn’t nickel and dime its guests in anyway so your boss will not have to put too much on expenses which is great for assistants too! Advertised minimum rate is $314 per room (April 2014). . The service is impeccable. No receipts to sort out!

During my time in Geneva it certainly hadn’t escaped my notice that Geneva is an expensive city: you can’t really escape it (unless you spend all of your time hanging around the central train station). I had spent three days in Geneva and was well aware that everything is ridiculously expensive.

I decided to wait because it is so much quieter the higher up you go in a city hotel. The hotel also has a great meeting and events space, which business travellers can use for an impromptu meeting or hire the entire space for up to 155 guests. It has clearly upped its game but still remains a budget friendly option.

We had asked for a twin room but instead the two mattresses that made up the king size bed had been unzipped and pulled slightly apart. for my fillet of beef I thought the food was expensive and some of the dishes unfortunately did not work for me. Advertised minimum rate is £189 per room (June 2014). It was okay.

The reception space is a great place to sit and relax or catch up on some work. Chic & Basic Born is a slightly more expensive option than its friend at the zoo but guests get a lot more for their money. The desk is made up of old suitcases and a classic car is permanently parked in the middle of the space.
