In 2013 Linda Tirado saw the following question on an online forum she followed: Why do poor people do things that are so self-destructive? Dental care in particular is expensive and hard to secure for the financially challenged. The most depressing parts of the book are on health care, or the lack of it for poor Americans.

Conducted in 2012 and 2013, the study tracked the finanical lives 235 low- and middle-income households. They are very expensive and very hard to do. NYU's The Plight of the Sometimes Poor provides an excellent book review. People turn to 2nd jobs and side gigs to help moderate the impacts of these problems.

But for the purposes of this post, I’ve scanned them to get a sense of my calendar year in review. Going forward, I’ll be reviewing from September 1 to August 31, because that’s how I structure my year now. We had a great (albeit expensive) time. The kids and I went to see Marvel Universe LIVE.
