The holidays are coming. I see Christmas lights going up faster that lightning strikes, and people have started asking me, “Bought your kids any gifts yet?”. Other people are supposed to buy you gifts! Other people are supposed to buy you gifts! But as I grew older, I learned… the hard way. And the gift?

I learned this from Guy Kawasaki and if you ever hear any of his speeches you’ll understand why. In essence, it keeps the audience alert and they’ll learn more from you than someone who just educates. Learn to tell stories. Make them laugh – Although you want to educate your audience, you need to make them laugh as well.

Understanding Memory Before learning any memory improvement technique, it’s useful to first understand the three stages of memory: encoding, storage and retrieval. Breathless, you hop on the bus and realize your lunch is still at home. Worse still, you spot a new co-worker on the bus and can’t remember his name. Get hooked on mnemonics.
