You bashed monsters by hitting keys on your keyboard whilst wondering if you could hook up a nodding bird à la Homer Simpson. You’d lose a crucial part of your life (and your income, if your writing forms all or part of your paid work). Writing is a form of communication, and there’s a person on the receiving end.

Maybe it’s a form of burnout? When we write in almost a free form and just let it flow, I find that some of our best work is produced. I maximize those as much as I can, and when they strike, I get myself to a keyboard. I think it’s a good idea to step away from the keyboard and take a break.

Now, when I say ‘don’t write’, I don’t mean you should take a break or get away from the keyboard for a day. Gotta love family;) Blogging, I pretty much hang loose and worry more about getting the content out there in an easily readable form. Thanks for sharing dictation software and I’ll give them a try.

If you let weeks slip by without writing or without working on that one project that really interests you, find half a day each week when you can really dig into your writing. No delicate tippy-tapping on the keyboard for me. Email is one of the most common forms of communication between freelancers and clients, and all too often, the clients have no idea how they come off. The written word can be an unruly form of communication. This hits home in almost any form of online communication.

Your circle of friends or business partnerships are usually formed by direct interactions. People Are Asking You To Let Them Help You This has happened to me only recently, but I guess in some form it was always there. not, I tend to have a rather greedy “Delete&# key on my keyboard. I gave up business cards a while ago.

I think there are tons of monetization models (and one of my projects is figuring out the essential monetization patterns for info products.) No matter what you do, there will always be folks who feel you’re whoring yourself out in some form or another, but if it works, I don’t have a problem with it. You have live events.
