Training budgets dissipated, opportunities dried up, and assistants had larger workloads without staffing backups. Trust me, it shows!

I was traveling, so different time zone, different pillows and et cetera, and I had to make a choice to sleep 1 hour more or go to the gym. Only travelers.

What about brainstorming to see what organizational tools would work best in the office? In my current role I cant take someones blood pressure and in my previous role, often times they wanted to be a Lotus Notes developer. If someone is needed at the Reception Desk to greet guests and take calls, we can easily step in.

I use this all the time on my calendar and my boss's calendar, and it helps us both to know which events are phone calls which he can take in the office or on the road (yellow) or which events will require travel (blue). I put travel in red and action reminders in yellow, but that is our own system and it works for us.

Once the date and location is finalized, if it requires flight and hotel, then I put a travel sheet on top of the meeting sheet and start to go through that checklist to see what I need to do, from getting the passport ready, contacting the travel agent and arranging for a purchase order, etc.

I run the outlook journal and it logs the time I spend with a given task. It automatically updates when I use an office product, and I can manually enter stop/start times for phone calls, meetings, face to faces, etc. Really great tool for analyzing your productivity.
