I also haven’t been growing or learning anything new since Day 1 because my boss won’t give me projects. I would like to get better assignments, promoted, or get a raise before a few more years go by. Granted, I understand that many managers are busy and it’s faster for them to do certain projects.

It says a lot when your boss wants to grow you within the company and promote you. I hated the mental stress and burden of putting everyone else first and getting only the usual thank you’s and words of appreciation. I also thought long and hard about why I was so unhappy and stressed at my job and why I had growing resentment.

And as I climbed the admin ladder, when I got recruited for a project manager role, the person who referred me was also someone I had met when I was “just a temp” stuffing those thousands of envelopes. That one unassuming, non-meaty, first temp gig got me my first CEO EA job and eventually my promotion to project manager down the road.
