I knew we were going to go back to that city the next year so negotiated with the hotel that if I booked the next event at their venue would they waive the cancellation fee. Negotiation As you saw above, negotiation is possible. Fortunately, they were able to waive it and we only lost our $500 deposit. It is always worth asking.

EA work is typically admin work - phones, travels, calendars, expense reports, mtgs/luncheons, etc. It also costs a lot to hire someone else because finding the time to find the right person and training them is expensive in energy, manpower, resources, and money.

I would like to say that it was a sudden enlightenment, an internal breakthrough which led me to an epiphany, but it wasn’t. Facts Analysis When you analyze facts, you leave away the internal “fog”. Maybe you think you’re a brilliant negotiator, but that may be just an inconsistent cloud in your ego. I know that first hand.

If the brain was trained to give a pre-established answer, it will most likely give it, of course, but fact is there is some reaction time. This quality allows us to identify changes in our universe and match them to our internal history. So, based on what the stimuli offers, we browse our internal library and pick whatever we think it might be appropriate. The internal dialogue got screwed and I ended up in a worse situation. Which is to withdraw. Well, I dont.

Frustration Level (0 – 100): 25 – There was an increasing internal pressure for finishing things up which made me quite nervous. No more arguing or negotiating, I just started to code it. I was happy to finish the lot for the day. Day 25 – New Interface Choice. I also added a Help and FAQ section.
