When people would ask me in interviews, my first answer was, “No nepotism here!” I found every single one of my jobs through a temping agency or by referral.

I thoroughly enjoy the diversity of these positions, the project management, and the role of admin support. Temp, volunteer, apply for PT work and list that as your present role. Call your old contacts, do informational interviews, network twice removed. If you want advice/information, ask for money/job.

The mistakes were along the lines of typos, not explaining a request so it was 100% dummy-proof, and not catching a detail buried on a multi-page group email that had been forwarded to so many people by the time it got to me that I had to hunt and peck for the bits of information like I was looking for Waldo.
