To conduct a job hunt confidentially, only tell those people you MUST (the recruiters you are interviewing with, etc). Plan ahead how you will juggle job hunting and your current schedule. This may mean interviewing before work, during lunch, after work, or on the weekends. Give proper notice. This is an extreme example though.
