The boss's goals are your goals. Only when you've got the boss's goals taken care of can you move onto something else. If using Facebook or Twitter or Instagram isn't a part of your job, don't even look at it during work hours. Sure, you'd like to answer emails and send emails, but is that what your boss wants done?

His goal is to be able to contribute to those conversations in a knowledgeable way -- or at least not look like a clueless fool. For me, one of the great things about Twitter is that is allows me to learn more about what people experience at work every day.
