Sometimes I wish I had something to warn me when I am with someone with a cell phone so I can know that we are going to be interrupted. I find it frustrating when people either text while in a conversation or are constantly taking phone calls. Apparently not, when its by phone. In an emergency, the cell phone is a useful tool.

In fact, I’ve been using it for just about eight months now, but I now have a better perspective about the pros and cons of the phone that excludes the initial new-ness impressions. What I Don’t Like I believe the phone was designed with the light non-business user in mind. You see, I use my phone heavily for email.

Specifically, when I use the car bluetooth to dial a number, meaning, I tell the car navigation system to dial a stored number or spell-out the number, the phone resets. I’ve had to resort to dialing on the phone, disconnecting and then using the car navigation system to redial. The problem is that the phone is very heavy.

Our organization uses Google Apps for our e-mail, calendar and cloud solution. Unlike traditional e-mail, Google Apps utilizes labels instead of a folder system for e-mail sorting and storage. On a daily basis, I make liberal use of the following two keyboard keys: 1. Facebook updates go directly into a Facebook folder, etc.

Along with our multiple work passwords, we have a password for our home computer, and if we sign up for Facebook, Twitter or any other website, we have another password to remember. I can tell you my friends and colleagues got a lot of phone calls in those early days and it was a wonderful resource and help to me. The nice thing about on-line sites is for the most part they are free, but what they dont charge in fees they can take up in time, as many of us have experienced with sites such as Facebook.

In the Advanced/General preferences panel, you can set Postbox to use Gmail’s keyboard shortcuts and you can also create events within Google Calendar for detected dates. Ive really been liking @ Teuxdeux for iphone and a web app, but Im not sure that I would be willing to commit to one app on my desktop and one on my phone.

Two of the most used applications on my iPhone (apart from all the social media apps for Twitter and Facebook ) are iBlueSky and Voice Recorder. If I am away from my notebook, I have written notes to myself on my memo pad on my cell phone. I use Google docs myself which has a simple huge numbered list and the new ideas go at the top.
