I am not a freelancer as such but I do work from home and I’ve training my boss and colleagues to stop arranging meetings after 4pm (still working on that one), I’ve been forcing myself to step away from the keyboard and to stop checking work emails after hours. Now, my theory is that King didn’t get to write pretty darn good stuff every single time he sat down at the table just because he was genetically gifted with brilliance. It would be much easier to keyboard it but I know it wouldn’t have the same effect as writing it by hand. He’s been doing it for too long. I get hand cramps!

If you were, say for example, to add WishList Member to Men with Pens and offer a paid level of content, you would be, essentially, creating a product. For example, if you sell a book for $10, you might sell a workbook for $40. I feel the gift of speech need to be leveraged. Move people. THAT is what I want to change.

Going back to school was the best gift I could give myself. I have an upcoming series of articles on Hong Kong, which not only uses my background in Asian/Chinese history, for example. However, I took many courses and classes in small business management and they helped shape what I am today. When my son graduates, I will insist on it.

For example, you’ve mentioned that you want to be paid for what you do, for the hours that go into your work and exposing yourself so much to your fans. Just once in a while… I find I have those moments as well, and if you’re not right there with the pen or the keyboard, then you’ve lost it. Just grasp that moment, eh?
