The Observer's Newspaper Death Spiral Made Plain in One Chart covers the decline in newspaper ad revenue.  The key quote is: Newspapers are not a mass medium anymore. Newspaper penetration has fallen from a high of 124% in 1950 (when Americans bought multiple papers) to 37% in 2013, according to Editor & Publisher data. Two-thirds of Americans do not buy newspapers.  The one chart, shown below, is not surprising but still quite stunning.
