'Speaking to assistants at the Assist Conference back in February I was surprised at how many of the delegates worked for multiple Executives. I would say the majority worked for two or more bosses. I knew the traditional one on one assistant position was on the decline in most organisations but I thought that the majority of board level Directors still had a dedicated assistants – this just isn’t the case anymore.

This happens to be one of my favorite weeks of the year – and not just because I was once an assistant myself before I founded my training company, Office Dynamics, back in 1990. I love celebrating Administrative Professionals Week because it gives me a chance to thank my own assistant for everything she does to help me be even more successful.

'A good study from Merrill Lynch on working in retirement is nicely covered in the Fast Company article The Real Reasons More People are Working in Retirement. The study covers in detail what they call the 4 Myths of working in retirement. According to the study summary, these are: Myth 1: Retirement means the end of work. Reality: Over seven in 10 pre-retirees say they want to work in retirement.
