It is a huge exhibition and conference for the events industry. I’m quite lucky because I work in the events industry so my colleagues understand that I want to attend events that will support my professional development. All of which are relevant to our industry too! This means that I am not always in the office.

Well, it seems to be the skill of the moment within the industry. Networking. Having a strong network before internally in your organisation and with other assistants, clients and suppliers is pretty crucial these days. Having a network to fall back on when something goes wrong is so helpful.

If it does then ask to attend their initial training sessions on the industry. You can meet with potential suppliers but also attend free training sessions. Networking Groups. There are PA networking groups springing up all over the place these days, which is absolutely brilliant!

In addition I met with a number of serviced apartment suppliers and from the outset it was clear that the apartments were considerably cheaper than the best corporate rate I was offered at a hotel. Looking back on this it was easy to see that their were definite benefits to using serviced accommodation but also a few shortcomings.
