We held our first Assist Travel conference and exhibition on Friday 25th September at the Hilton Bankside and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed the day. The hotel itself was not open to guests and you could literally smell the fresh paint in the conference space. As you can imagine I was really excited to get the conference started.

Around the corner from our office in Frankfurt we have a wonderful burger restaurant. Sometimes I enjoy an evening at the Zarges restaurant in Frankfurt – another place I can highly recommend.

The Doubletree was situated in the heart of downtown Memphis; close to plenty of fantastic restaurants, shops and local attractions including the Fedex Forum and Memphis Redbirds stadium. The bedrooms, unfortunately, did not quite live up to the rest of the hotel. Guests definitely knew they were in Memphis with music filling the air!

We had asked for a twin room but instead the two mattresses that made up the king size bed had been unzipped and pulled slightly apart. During the week the hotel is very much a conference and event space. I loved sitting underneath the cloisters and I thought the setting for the restaurant was fantastic. It was okay.

Three mornings a week, I kit up and go for a brisk 10-minute jog, followed by a quick circuit of abdominal, arm and leg exercises back at home.
