Thursday, June 17, 2010 Proper Business Dining Etiquette I have been to lunches and dinners where people inadvertently take the wrong glass, use the wrong utensil with the meal, or display improper dining etiquette, such as starting to eat before everyone is served or talking with their mouth full. You have to show your executive and business owner how investing in your development will benefit them or the company. All the more reason you have to show your executive the benefits you will drive; the benefits your executive will derive from sending you and how the company will benefit. It can be a very hard sell.

What is the proper etiquette when addressing or writing to a President? Well, behind every important business person, whether they be the head of a Fortune 500 company, a movie star or even The President of the United States, they all need an assistant to help them manage their responsibilities. Why do we not use their full name?

Below are some things that I have found helpful to build my network: Join a professional association such as the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP). IAAP is a group of assistants who get together and encourage each other in our jobs and careers. Read professional magazines when you get the opportunity.
