There are many teachers in my extended family and it seemed like something I could do well, but our family did not have any money to further my education and I became a secretary instead. The company I work for has a great attitude toward staff professional development and hiring from within for open positions or new position needs.

I have always been a believer in sharing ideas and have received my best education from other assistants. It's up to us to educate them on the benefits of an assistant. They won't know what we're capable of if we don't tell them, nor will they realize that letting us do some of the work actually saves the company money in the long run. Her office encouraged her when they saw her knack for numbers and she pursued further education and is now a junior accountant. Very educative!! .&# But what does it mean exactly and does that include everything? Another colleague worked in an accounting firm and volunteered to take on some small accounting jobs to get her feet wet.
