There are many teachers in my extended family and it seemed like something I could do well, but our family did not have any money to further my education and I became a secretary instead. The company I work for has a great attitude toward staff professional development and hiring from within for open positions or new position needs.

She saw the importance of this training to help her daughter know the workings of an office from the bottom up and the office benefitted from her educational training. The administrative position can be a springboard for a management position if you want to go in that direction and have the right educational background.

It's up to us to educate them on the benefits of an assistant. They won't know what we're capable of if we don't tell them, nor will they realize that letting us do some of the work actually saves the company money in the long run.
