What better candidate to take on that role as a career, than the assistant who regularly plans events from small meetings to large conferences. Some examples would be managing a company website, creating, editing and writing a company newsletter or creating promotional materials, invitations and brochures for marketing events.

This is where an assistant network can come in handy. I often reach out to my network to get answers to problems that come up at the office or just to lend a sympathetic ear. When you leave a job, you dont have to leave your network behind. Having the opportunity to hash it out with another assistant is a great resource.

If a conference comes up and they are looking for someone to do the registration, we can step in and do that or we can organize it from start to finish. There comes a time when companies need to pony up the money and either pay for your training or pay for a professional instead of heaving everything off on the admin because theyre cheap.

I logged onto my computer last week and put in my network password, then to open my Outlook account I had to put another password in for that. I leave an excel sheet on the company Server that only my IP & station login can Access and keep it updated. Lets enjoy our day together.© August 02, 2010 Anonymoussaid.
