You can make that first step easier by supporting yourself: comfy clothes, your favorite music, an organizing buddy, etc. Riders equip their horses with blinders for one reason only: to keep the horse focused on what is in front of it. I think someone once said "the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step" :).
