Tech glitches happen all the time and 2 people controlling one person's calendar is not the easiest thing. You answer the phone, book travel, offer beverages to guests, book meetings, prepare the conference room, order food, etc. I block out time on my calendar when I know I will have to work overtime because it's budget season.
