Another thing that I can suggest is to have a meeting with your boss. M ention him that you are here to help in any way you can. Remind him that this is why he hired you.

If you meet someone at an Administrative Assistant conference, for example, make sure to follow up with that contact within a week or two after the event. Give, receive and record contact information. Keep in touch.
