Here's a tip: you talk to, email several people a day. I take my best content and turn it into workshops and allow people to play with and I hope learn from the ideas. I also can use the recording to make a cd and give to potential clients or current clients instead of a business card or brochure.

I have people following me on Twitter who say things like, “Hey, if you’re looking for new writing markets, you should try this website.” I get snail mail from credit card companies who could not possibly have my new mailing address unless they scammed it off some list. I’ve happily signed up for all kinds of email lists.

I was having a conversation with Deb Ng of Freelance Writing Gigs on Twitter , and I smirked at her comment. That’s like being able to attend a workshop given by an expert authority three times a week and learn how to improve your business without paying a penny. Not businesses who sell services.
