As you can imagine I am pretty much surrounded by events 24/7 so it made a lovely change last month when I attended the show simply as a delegate! There were many free training sessions for assistants to attend and the exhibitors were all relevant suppliers to the industry which again is not always the case with these types of events!

I now realise that these events had huge networking opportunities which I failed to appreciate. WATC make it simple by providing an events calendar of when all the networks are due to meet.

I’ve spent the last few days at a big exhibition for the events industry in Frankfurt called IMEX 2013. My boss (the COO) had organised a client golf day and I spent months finding top quality golf products for him to take along to the course. When I say big I mean huge! Make sure your logo is displayed on everything.

Of course, the inverse also works. The key to quick transitions, I’ve found, is to keep local copies of all emails. I route my email accounts through Outlook so there are hard copies of everything just in case. I even do this with my Gmail accounts.
