they are generally going to want to talk with you, at least interview you, during the day. cutting way back on what you spend, living on a tight budget, etc. Even if you found clients who would be ok with you working on their stuff in the evenings and weekends (and there are those who will be just fine with that!), Quit your job.

Other jobs, because they were temp to full time, I didn’t even have the benefits of paid vacation time or paid sick days for almost a year. It always perplexes me when small companies do not hire a temp or have in mind another staff person to fill in for the admin or EA to go on a vacation or call in sick.
