My suitcase was packed, my traveling clothes all laid out. My dad has always enjoyed days spent swimming in the ocean, followed by hearty dinners at nice restaurants. My mom tried to help by encouraging me to like stuff that other girls my age liked: clothes, boy bands, teen magazines. Today we flew back to Florida.

Years ago, at lunch with a friend I hadn''t seen in quite some time, I ordered the Chicken Peppercorn Salad, but I wanted it with blue cheese dressing rather than the usual parmesan peppercorn. Why can''t they toss it in the kitchen? She toddled off, and returned to say that the restaurant manager was going to take care of it.

I meet so many entrepreneurs and business leaders who are either struggling to find a great assistant or they just aren’t ready to bring one on yet. My message to them is you really don’t know what you are missing. Also, if you are buying an item for a team of assistants it isn’t so creepy anymore.

I didn’t bring my watch and the time on my phone didn’t work so by day three I had really stopped caring about the time and just enjoyed being in the moment. In Haiti there weren’t many hurried people, unless of course you are a tap-tap driver! This was the view from the rooftop where we ate our meals.
