Just over a year later, in December 2021, Bell—along with her longtime friend and business partner Corrie Scheepers—reopened that property as Ampersand Estates, Western Australia’s newest vineyard and winery. Founding Ampersand Estates At Deloitte and Velrada, Bell felt she missed out on setting and achieving personal goals.

I learned a lot in those years, having helped investor public relations and other behind-the-scenes tasks. Even when you’ve reached a point where you could retire comfortably, that’s, well, boring. I see goals as being continuous, so no matter where you are or what you’re doing, you can always make more of an impact.

Even a single survey question can help you learn if your clients’ needs are satisfactorily met. They take another offer, change their lives around or, sometimes, they simply retire.

He’s affectionate, thoughtful, hopeful and learning things at a dizzying rate. I obsessed over the team and going to games, so when I learned people got paid to sit and watch them, I lined up a sports writing career. I adapted, recalibrated goals, learned new skills. He copies most of what my wife Laura and I do.
