I worked hard at that job and was rewarded with a promotion to Account Manager in 2006, yay! Arranging catering and dealing with external suppliers. Getting to grips with calendar and email management. Helping with projects. The role also had some PA tasks but was mainly admin. Learning to multi-task.

Shop around : Make sure you are getting the best deals from all you suppliers- right down to your electricity, broadband and gas bills. If your business has an inventory make sure you source the best suppliers at the right price, and don’t be afraid to haggle ! You can leave a response , or trackback from your own site.

In fact, a couple of projects in the Toastmasters leadership track manual can be used for that purpose. The benefits they get out of it is the experience, a completed project, and possible new members to their local club. They will, more often than not, do training for free to groups. And I often find myself working late to finish client’s projects on time. I will of course keep trying to outsource as it isn’t possible for me to hire a lot of people and I still need help but how do you assure that the people that you hire cares about the project you give them ? I am the owner of a small business myself.

Only allow yourself a certain amount of time for tasks that can become time consuming, such as reading and responding to email. VB, Stefan Sharon Watkins Said on May 11th, 2010 at 4:15 pm I don’t know how many times I have had projects due and have wasted time with piddly tasks. Establish time limits for specific tasks.

One of my bigger web design projects was for a very reputable Houston plastic surgeon that specializes in Body Lifts and Other cosmetic procedures. We worked very well together via email. I almost always see people meeting there in a business sense. I never actually met him face to face. I was referred and contracted to him.

Suppliers will probably thank you for short meetings, so they too can get more done. I run a small business advising companies on improving their projects and programmes through better meetings. Remember this is a rule for internal meetings, for meetings with customers this rule does not apply – within reason of cause.
