In my career, it's not often that one is tested during a screening process or for a job interview. However, I have noticed a lot of private companies or companies that value exceptional talent and have a great interview process do test their applicants. You ask a very good question and I'm so glad you are being proactive with your job hunt and career. It will take an hour or two to take typing, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint tests. Sometimes it will take a week or two to be called in for an interview/testing appointment. I was once offered a job. You get the picture.
