Maintaining a good bring-forward system is important to have things ready when needed. Having a good filing system and keeping the file list up to date is something every assistant needs to be able to do. As long as the end product looks good, at times we have to be creative to get there. Be prepared and think ahead.

Check: Do you have a system for prioritizing your workload? It automatically updates when I use an office product, and I can manually enter stop/start times for phone calls, meetings, face to faces, etc. Really great tool for analyzing your productivity. I must admit that it helps that I learnt to use a computer on the old DOS system and shortcut keys were the only option, but even those who normally use a mouse can transition over quite easily. Bring Forward System or Using Tasks in Outlook Have a system to follow up on items your boss has asked you to do or things you know you need to do.
