At one office I worked in we had a mail cart with slots for everyones mail, but it was filed First name, Last name. Each time I went to get my mail I would find my mail in the other Patricias slot or vice versa. the phone book, standard filing practices etc.) Im sure you know what Im talking about. The system I use is quite simple and has been around for a long time. Tried and True Method: I set up 12 hanging file folders labelled January through to December. I then put the items in a two-fold file folder with his calendar printed out on the one side and the items he will need for the day on the other side. Thats great!

Put reminders in their Tasks or Calendar of anything you know is coming up with enough lead time so they will have time to complete it. Keep an organized filing system and file list. If your boss tends to misplace things when they get it, make an extra copy for your file before giving it to them.

I use hanging file folders labelled from January through to December. My boss will give me items that he wants brought forward on certain dates and I just put it in the appropriate month he wants it with a note on it with the date, and sometimes time, he needs it by and it is as simple as that. Otherwise, I never remember to check it.

Get any files they may need as a result of the e-mail correspondence. Check with your boss and if agreed, unsubscribe from any unnecessary e-mails that may be cluttering their Inbox or create subfolders and drag and drop these e-mails there for your boss to check when he or she has the time to review them. Ctrl + Home moves the cursor to the beginning of the open file or document and Ctrl + End moves the cursor to the end of the open file or document, but if you are in the middle of a document and want to select everything from there down, press Ctrl + Shift + End or if you want to select everything from there up, press Ctrl + Shift + Home.
