We both had similar skills, education, etc. The only thing that helped me get the job was sending the Thank You letter.

As wonderful as online learning can be, going to a live conference or seminar with other assistants is something that you should try to do a few times a year. My opinions are based on experience, education, trial and error and blunders and bloopers made throughout my life and career.

I also learned at a "Working Smarter with Microsoft Outlook" seminar that we should not use e-mails as urgent requests. My opinions are based on experience, education, trial and error and blunders and bloopers made throughout my life and career. If it is urgent, pick up the phone, or visit the person, if he/she is in the same office.
