I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one that gets a little bit apprehensive about attending events, especially large exhibitions that are set up like a gauntlet that you have to navigate through while avoiding overzealous sales people pulling you from one badly designed stand to another. So we need to attend events on a regular basis.

As you can imagine I am pretty much surrounded by events 24/7 so it made a lovely change last month when I attended the show simply as a delegate! There were many free training sessions for assistants to attend and the exhibitors were all relevant suppliers to the industry which again is not always the case with these types of events!

I attended the Assist Conference earlier this year. The Skill-set of the modern PA is a far cry from tea and typing: Exceptional Communication – with colleagues, clients, suppliers, peers and the public (includes Active Listening). Note that both Simulate and Crystal currently generate flash (SWF files) which means they won't run on ipads although I believe the suppliers both have plans for HTML5. More about ezViz later when I look at data visualisation tools.
