However, even after taking many classes on the various programs I still haven’t gotten any new tasks. I would like to get better assignments, promoted, or get a raise before a few more years go by. One of the best ways to get a raise is to try to ask for more responsibility and increase your skills and talents much like you did.

I knew I didn’t want to job hunt for more than 6-9 months if I didn’t have to. And as I was working, job hunting and/or temping, I had to find other sources of happiness. So I read a lot about happiness, job hunting, and a meaningful life. I’m not sure how your job hunting experience was.

Those who help the company become more innovative or strategic will make themselves key players – and those are the people a company is more likely to retain and promote. Ask your boss for opportunities to train in other departments, or to attend seminars or classes at a local university. Get more training. Happy New Year!
