I was out of work, temping here and there for a year. Being a member is not only a great place for networking, but for mentoring and learning of jobs in your area. Don’t underestimate the value of temping. Working for a temp agency can either land you a full-time job or help to keep you employed while you are looking.

I have heard of EAs working for successful international corporations and earning a very large salary. If you’ve decided you want to be an EA or have a career that leads to a great salary, it all starts with growth. Even asking to intern, shadow, or be mentored by someone well respected is a great first step.

The staffing agent asked if I was open to temp to perm, even though the position was for a full time EA, he feels the CEO may need time to see if it is a good fit. I have no idea how long "temp" is considered before they would offer the permanent position. It feels like a bait and switch and there are no guarantees.

I make an incredible salary so when I tell my husband and friends I want to explore other avenues, they think I'm crazy. And as I was working, job hunting and/or temping, I had to find other sources of happiness. I also thought about money, salary negotiation, and how I was spending my time. My boss seems oblivious.
