Interview Questions and Answers for PAs, EAs and Admins Part 6

Practically Perfect PA

In my last blog I wrote about interview questions regarding career development and a few example answers. These questions can be a little scary but I actually think they are easier to answer than standard interview questions. When asking a competency question the interviewer will ask you to give an example from your past experiences rather than answer in general terms. He was very self reliant so he didn’t want me to touch his unique filing system.

Interview Questions and Answers for PAs, EAs and Administrators

Practically Perfect PA

Over the last few years I’ve changed employers a number of times and so have had to face quite a few interviews. I went for one interview at a global accountancy firm and had a full-time permanent role as a team administrator straight away. So what happens when you do land that all important first interview? I’ve always found the best way to prepare for an interview is to think about the subjects you will cover. Filed under: Interviews.

Interview Questions and Answers for PAs, EAs and Administrators Part 2

Practically Perfect PA

In my previous blog I looked at some of the common questions interviewers ask and the answers I would give if I had an interview, the examples are personal to me but hopefully will help you think about how you structure your answers. I’ve always found this question hard to answer in interviews because I’m still not sure what I want to be when I grow up! I hate this question, it always reminds me of those awkward interviews on The Apprentice !

Have a Hard Time Reading Your File Labels? Try This Tool.

Productive & Organized

Today I'm sharing a super quick tip about a filing tool that you may like.   This type of file folder is great for those that need extra labeling space because you have a much larger tab and inset to hold your label. To give you an idea of what I mean, I took a picture of my regular file folder next to a Super Tab. I was a bit skeptical of the folders at first, because I have a number of clients that have file drawers that are not very deep.

Covering cover letters

Practically Perfect PA

In amongst all of my files and paperwork I discovered a handful of my old covering letters for various jobs I had applied for over the years (one was hand written – that is how old I am!). I always add a cover letter to my CV because I do think it can help with your chances of landing an interview. I did secure a first and a second interview before the job was offered to someone else.

Interview them too. Once you are invited in to see an agent remember that they are gatekeepers to the organisation you want to work for so do think of it as an interview. Also remember that you can interview them too, they are making money out of you so you have every right to make sure they are the kind of agent you want representing you. Should you go to every interview? . Here is a link to my post on questions to ask at an interview.

Here are a few tips when starting a new job: Pay attention to the questions you were asked at the interview. In one interview, the person interviewing me said he needed his filing done on a daily basis as many people were using the files and it was important to have all the information up to date. This was mentioned a few times in the interview so I knew it was important and when I got the job I made sure to do my filing every day.
