In my first PA role I was told I could be more assertive and went on a number of courses, one of which involved the class throwing a ball around the room while shouting out ‘no’ as assertively as possible and another which saw me talking to a sock puppet about my need to please others. Not o make this a rant or anything but I know 3 guys who manage to finish school due to having help from others and they can't find work. Destroying someone's self esteem doesn't actually make them better. Now I am in debt of student loans, hardly any "creditable" job experience.
