Tonight we met at the Red Rock Resort Pool Area for a great networking event. Many were return attendees, which doesn’t surprise me at all given the quality of training and the spectacular way Joan has with putting on an event of distinction. It was close to sunset. We gathered at tables and cabanas surrounding an outdoor pool.

After a full day of managing an agenda, his comment caught me completely off guard. Isn’t it funny how, long after an event takes place, later you think of the retort you wish you’d said? He cited an example where someone worked month on, month off as a sea-going launderer, earning $400,000 annually. No one said anything.

Always factor in travel times and a little extra. Make sure an ‘all day’ event does not block out their entire day. Agenda / meeting purpose. When responding to diary appointments everyone should provide you with an agenda or purpose for the meeting. It can look messy. Supporting papers.

Plan out an agenda of all points that will need to be discussed. The Timekeeper would make sure each topic is covered within the amount of time mentioned on the agenda. If the person isnt responsible for any of the items discussed in this meeting, dont invite them. Delegate a person to be a a Facilitator, a Timekeeper and a Scribe.

Set aside emails from colleagues and clients they have hundreds of emails from professional organisations, upcoming conferences, travel companies and not to mention lots and lots of sales requests. I really recommend setting up some standard replies to frequent requests such as dinner invites, events details and sales requests.

2 months after I started my service, a series of events, known today as the Romanian Revolution, took place. After all, you can’t please everybody and everyone has their own agenda. Even soldiers believe they’re serving their countries, when they may only be furthering the agenda of a dictator. Great article Dragos.

I confess that each morning I was a little bit confused and even frightened just before getting into the flow of events, but once I was there, acting and doing stuff, everything felt into pieces. I have appointments in my agenda and tasks to be done. It is also the reason I love to travel with little planning ahead.
