Luckily my hotel, The Colonnade, probably noticing all of the left over Subway wrappers invited me to sample the menu at their in-house restaurant, Brasserie Jo. for the first time, in a French restaurant in Boston. The atmosphere in the restaurant was pretty relaxed. Tucked away in the coroner of the restaurant the space would be great for a business meeting or after work drinks / dinner reception. Oh my guuuddd it was freezing in Boston.

The Nadler Soho is located just off Soho Square which is pretty much in the centre of London’s West End with its theatres, restaurants, bars and shops all within walking distance. The hotel doesn’t have a bar or restaurant, which might be a deal breaker for some business travellers, but it does have a meeting space for up to 8 people. The hotel also offers guests a number of discounts with local restaurants, including 20% off breakfast in Quo Vadis on Dean Street.

Nevertheless, I had been hearing from ex-colleagues and friends that the new restaurants in the upper levels of the Shard with their interesting cuisine and spectacular views were worth a visit. David Yeo’s huge restaurant offers contemporary Northern Chinese cuisine. I will get back to the food but first the restaurant. The restaurant also has a number of private-dining options which I would highly recommend for board dinners and client entertainment.

A few years I organised afternoon tea at T hreadneedles Hotel for my department’s Christmas party. It was just a small, fairly conservative group so afternoon tea in a beautiful setting was the perfect choice.

I enjoyed a beautiful meal at NHube (the hotel restaurant and bar) and I also took a look around the hotel, which I must say is one of the nicest I have seen since I moved to Barcelona last year. As it was Sunday the restaurant was very busy catering for the New York Sunday brunch crowd. Advertised minimum rate is $595 per room (April 2014). . This is me arriving at The Lowell , New York City. It was freezing cold and I was actually wearing two coats. The doorman was lovely and didn’t mind carrying my bright pink suitcase.

You shake your phone and the app will suggest a restaurant in the area, you can also make a reservation using the app. This app allows me collect the address of all of those great restaurants in one place. When I read a good review I will add the restaurant to the app for future use. A great app for booking restaurants, even at the last minute.

It is a lovely part of Geneva with lots of shops, restaurants and cafes nearby. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you might need if you can’t quite face the expensive local restaurants and the fridge was thoughtfully stocked with fruit juices, water and fizzy drinks. Advertised minimum rate per night is 550 CHF (October 2014). The Swiss Luxury Apartments are located in a beautiful building on a quiet street and short walking distance from the Lake.

Located on Grafton Street with all its shops and restaurants and just opposite St. We were able to pick pretty much anywhere we wanted for dinner and had a lovely stroll to and from the restaurant. I felt that the food could have been a bit flashier (you do tend to expect that in a five star hotel restaurant) but that would have probably only raised the price and not the quality. Walking into the Lobby Bar at One Aldwych will always evoke some powerful memories but yet I have never stayed in the hotel or eaten in one of the restaurants. Tucked away in the lower levelsof the hotel, Axis at One Aldwych is a striking restaurant. The excellent service I had so far continued with the restaurant staff. Mylast but no means least experience at One Aldwych was breakfast in the Indigo restaurant which overlooks the Lobby Bar.

If you answer yes to either of these questions then the ACME Hotel Company is the place for your boss! It is quite possibly the coolest hotel I have ever been too.

There’s no finer pleasure than visiting a restaurant during its opening week. It’s never the hustle and bustle of TV restaurant opening night; it’s only on the fantasy Ramsey’s Kitchen Nightmares that you would launch or relaunch a restaurant and decide to pack the place. Without a TV audience clamouring for c**k-ups and catastrophes a great restaurant takes its time to find its feet. Marco Pierre White’s new Glasgow restaurant fits beautifully into the Indigo Hotel.

The Westbury, London

The Polo Bar was full of locals and hotel residence and the Tsukiji Restaurant was very popular too. The Westbury is also home to a Michelin starred restaurant run by Alyn Williams. The restaurant was very busy and the wait for the food was quite a bit longer than you would normally expect. The location is fantastic and close to great shops and restaurants. Advertised minimum rate is £219 per room (May 2014).
